Mercedes „Pagoda“ (W113)

Introduced in 1963, the W113 replaced both the 300 SL Roadster and the 190 SL.
It combined structural safety with restrained elegance — a modern interpretation of the classic Mercedes roadster.

Its distinctive concave hardtop roofline, which gave the car its nickname “Pagoda”, was not merely stylistic but engineered for improved rigidity and headroom.

Designed under Paul Bracq, the W113 represents the transition from the sculptural forms of the 1950s to the precise, architectural clarity of the 1960s.
